THE LIBRARY IS WHERE IT’S AT!

I’m going to be completely honest with you all. I wasn’t really a library person pre-kids. It wasn’t that I had something against the library, it’s just that growing up in a family of four daughters there was already too much going on with school, sports and friends that we didn’t make it there regularly.

Post-kids, I’m a whole different person. In so many more ways than one. But definitely when it comes to the library! First, the library is FREE. Slow clap. I’ve already disclosed how expensive having children can be, so the fact that all of the books and activities at the library are free is clutch.

Notice how I mentioned activities? Well that is the first thing you will love about the library once you have a baby. It has free activities for parents that allow you the chance to not only get out of the house, but also meet other parents with children the same age.

The events are usually weekly and vary by age, with some libraries offering activities for babies as early as three months old and then continuing programs for people of all ages. There are story-times, music events, book clubs, other clubs, drop-in art activities, playdates, and more. We were just at the Mooresville Public Library today for an Art Exploration that allowed us to each create an amber magnet to mimic the gemstone which can include prehistoric plants or insects. Sounds wonderful, right?

There is also usually a kids play area at the library. Some have slides, others magna tiles and bead mazes, and most have computers with educational games. There is something for all ages at the library!

And we haven’t even gotten to the free books yet. Want to read some of your old favorites to your little ones like “Go, Dog. Go!” or “Goodnight Moon”? You can get them for free at the library. What about some of the newer titles making a splash with kids like “The Day the Crayons Quit”, “Dragons Love Tacos” or “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”? The library is your answer! Help inspire your children’s love of reading by exposing them to all the magical places and characters in books.

Get your library card today and you won’t regret it, I promise!
