I purchased the Stomp Rocket on Amazon Prime Day when my boys were two and four, and it quickly became my go-to toy when packing up for the park. Honestly it is inexpensive enough that you don’t have to wait for Prime Day. But it never hurts to get a couple extra dollars off, especially with how crazy expensive everything is these days!
Of course I was the type-a mom with the oversized bag filled with toys, snacks, water bottles, bandaids, change of clothes and anything and everything you could need when out of the house. Lucky for me the Stomp Rocket was easy to compact, so it fit nicely with the rest of my gear. Additionally, I soon found it was one of the only toys needed to help keep my boys entertained for a long stretch of time.
What is a Stomp Rocket, you ask? It is a toy that allows kids to experiment with gravity and force by jumping on an air-filled launchpad that shoots a foam rocket straight into the sky, up to 100 feet in the air. The fact that the rockets are made of foam is key, as my boys loved to try and catch the rockets out of the air after a stomp.
We quickly found that when the Stomp Rocket was taken with us to a park we immediately had troves of kids that would wander over to check out our activity. Allowing each of them a turn was a no-brainer, as the Stomp Rocket is safe for any aged child to enjoy. It helped teach my boys about sharing, and gave them the opportunity to make some new friends.
Griff, Owen and their friends would spend almost an hour taking turns jumping on the launchpad to see how high they could send the foam rockets. They would run around trying to catch the rockets before they touched the ground. And sometimes would have to do some tree climbing or play structure scaling if our launch site was set up in the wrong spot.
The Stomp Rocket held up against the force of my rambunctious boys, so it was definitely built well, but we did end up buying some replacement rockets after a bit. That was thanks to our pups, Marco and Howie, who would rip them apart if they were left in the yard.
