HATS, HATS AND MORE HATS.

Since moving to North Carolina and leaving my nine-to-five job, I’ve become a hat girl. There are a couple reasons for this transition.

First, it’s super humid in North Carolina. My hair does not love humidity and tends to get big and half wavy/half curly. Not in the beach waves kind of way. In an embarrassing kind of way.

Second, I decided that showering every day is over-rated. It made sense when I had to be in front of clients and co-workers daily. But now my clients and co-workers are my husband and children, and they love me and listen to me no matter what I look like. Some of the time.

Third, hats make getting out of the house super easy. No more primping and spending time getting ready in the morning. My get out of the house time is now down to five to ten minutes thanks to wearing hats.

Fourth, there are so many hat options to help accessorize any outfit. I have hats in every color, with every logo imaginable on them.

I have a West Virginia hat to show off my husband’s heritage, a Chicago Blackhawks hat to show my love for the team, a Wynstone golf hat from my childhood, a hat from Slovenia where I attended my sister’s wedding, and the list goes on and on.

Five, these hats give people a reason to connect with me, and give them a little glimpse into who I am as a human being. It’s such a great conversation starter. Especially for my husband who constantly wears his Marshall hat so he can talk about his alma mater.

Another benefit (number six) is that they help hide sweat. Moving to North Carolina was like moving to a sauna.

It’s nearly impossible to stay looking fresh when you have to be outside in one hundred degree heat for a boys’ baseball game. Thankfully hats help hide my sweaty bangs and allow me to still look put together even when I’m dripping.

Seven is that they act as a sun blocker. These days I try to avoid the sun as much as possible with my fair skin. A hat helps protect my face from the sun, especially the part of my forehead that has already been under radiation for skin cancer.

To go along with number seven, is number eight, the fact that you don’t need sunglasses when you have a hat on. One less thing to have to worry about packing in your every day bag!

I highly recommend becoming a hat girl! You will instantly feel the benefits and be thanking me in the comments. Give it a try!
