Is it just me, or do two year-olds have endless energy? Maybe it was just my two boys, but they needed an activity multiple times a day or they were bouncing off the walls and driving both me and my husband crazy.
Unfortunately for my little ones, they were nine months and one and a half when we moved to North Carolina at the start of the 2020 Covid shutdown. As we were brand new to the state, we didn’t have any friends that were part of our pandemic pod. Therefore, we were in it all alone.
Additionally, most playgrounds were caution-taped off. So other than long walks around the neighborhood, we didn’t have many activities to get the boys’ boundless energy out.
That is, until we found Soccer Shots! Soccer Shots is an introduction to soccer program for children ages 2-8. Trained coaches teach your little one soccer lessons, listening skills and character words.
When I signed Griffin up, Soccer Shots was the only sport program available for him at two years old. Yes, there was also a Run Club, but Griffin despised going. Which I am not surprised about as running is still not one of his preferred activities at age eight. Baseball wasn’t available until four, basketball even later, so soccer was our only outlet.
But boy am I glad that we found Soccer Shots! We enrolled at a location near us in Mooresville, which means we signed up with the Soccer Shots of Greater Charlotte franchise. Coach Amy was absolutely amazing with the kids. Griffin learned how to listen to an adult other than his parents, had some of his first interactions with peers and absolutely enjoyed going.
Griffin continued playing for multiple seasons, as did Owen. We have since tried a couple other soccer programs, and I can honestly say that none are like Soccer Shots. The biggest difference in my opinion is the coaching. Most other programs count on volunteer parents, which can be a mixed bag. Soccer Shots uses trained coaches, so parents actually get to just sit on the sidelines and watch the magic happen.
I loved the Soccer Shots of Greater Charlotte program so much that I ended up working for them! They learned about my background at Google, and sought me out as their Director of Marketing.
The owner, Jon Beyerle, and his entire Leadership Team are amazing and work hard to bring the best experience possible to the children who enroll. I’m honestly grateful that I found them, and this program. And truly believe if you are looking for an activity for your two-year old, you should look no further than Soccer Shots!
